Government funded training

Centrelink provides payments to support people who are studying, training or undertaking an Australian Apprenticeship through programs like ABSTUDY, Austudy and Youth Allowance.

Australian Business School offers courses to candidates receiving government funding through various Centrelink programs such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY, Pensioner Education Supplement.

The Certificate 3 Guarantee supports eligible individuals to complete their first post-school certificate III level qualification and increase their skills to move into employment, re-enter the workforce or advance their career.

The Certificate 3 Guarantee is for students who commence a certificate level III course on or after 1 July 2013.

To be eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee a student must:

– not hold or be already undertaking a certificate III or higher level qualification (certificate III qualifications completed at school are not counted)
– be 15 years of age or older
– have finished secondary school or left school
– be a Queensland resident – an Australian Citizen or permanent resident living in Queensland, or a New Zealand citizen permanently residing in Queensland.

Employment status does not matter, nor is there a minimum education requirement, but students must meet the standard entry requirements for their chosen qualification.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

– Students that complete a certificate III level qualification will no longer be eligible for a government subsidised training place under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program.
– The student co-contribution fee for Certificate 3 Guarantee courses is $50.00. This fee represents the total cost to the student to enrol, undertake training and be awarded the qualification. The fee must be paid before the commencement of the course and is non-refundable.
– Every student that completes or discontinues a Certificate 3 Guarantee course must complete a Student Employment Survey within 3 months.

The User Choice 2010-2015 program provides a public funding contribution towards the cost of training and assessment services for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees. The program aims to provide funding aligned to the skill needs of industry and respond to changing government priorities.

The program provides the flexibility for apprentices, trainees and their employers to select a preferred registered training organisation (RTO) from a list of pre-qualified suppliers for the delivery of accredited training to meet their specific needs.
There are employer incentives for any employer placing their employee into a User Choice 2010 – 2015 program with the Australian Business School.
